Preservation Texas is the “ advocate for preserving the historic resources of Texas .” Its activities include an Annual Honor Awards Program, Texas’ Most Endangered Places Program, Preservation Day and Preservation Summit, and Outreach and Membership.

SMU is digitalizing its extensive photography collections. The Texas: Photographs, Manuscripts, and Imprints digital collection contains hundreds of images. Within the umbrella collection, the Lawrence T. Jones III Texas Photographs include 40 images relating to forts and 15 images relating to the Alamo .
